Poco despu\u00e9s, emiti\u00f3 una se\u00f1al de emergencia con el c\u00f3digo \u201cMAYDAY\u201d y perdi\u00f3 contacto con la torre de control. La aeronave cay\u00f3 a tierra, generando una densa columna de humo negro visible desde varios puntos de la ciudad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El jefe de Gobierno de Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, expres\u00f3 su \u00ab<strong><em>profunda angustia\u00bb<\/em><\/strong> por el accidente y orden\u00f3 la creaci\u00f3n de un \u201ccorredor verde\u201d para facilitar el traslado urgente de los heridos a los hospitales. Por su parte, el ministro del Interior, Amit Shah, asegur\u00f3 que el Gobierno central brindar\u00e1 todo el apoyo necesario y anunci\u00f3 el despliegue de equipos de la Fuerza Nacional de Respuesta a Desastres (NDRF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El aeropuerto de Gatwick confirm\u00f3 que el vuelo ten\u00eda previsto aterrizar en Londres a las 18:25 (hora local), pero poco despu\u00e9s del despegue en Ahmedabad se perdi\u00f3 todo contacto. A trav\u00e9s de su cuenta en X, la terminal brit\u00e1nica lament\u00f3 el siniestro, aunque aclar\u00f3 que a\u00fan no dispone de detalles precisos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seg\u00fan la aerol\u00ednea, a bordo viajaban 169 ciudadanos indios, 53 brit\u00e1nicos, 7 portugueses y 1 canadiense.
